Shankar Mahadevan, Monali Thakur & Diljit Dosanjh Are the Judges of Singing Reality Show Rising Star




Judges of the singing reality show 'Rising star'

'Rising Star' is an upcoming singing reality show that will be shown on Colors TV from 4 February 2017. The Judges of this show are Shankar Mahadevan, Diljit Dosanjh,  and Monali Thakur.

Shankar Mahadevan:

Shankar Mahadevan is a music composer and a  playback singer who was born on 3 March 1967 in Chembur, Mumbai.  He is a part of the Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy composing trio team for many Indian films.  Shankar learned music from the  Marathi music composer Shrinivas Khale and in 2015,  he made his acting debut with a Marathi film 'Katyar Kaljat Ghusli'. Mahadevan did graduation in computer science and software engineering from the Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology Navi Mumbai and after working as a software engineer for Leading Edge Systems,  he decided to become a professional singer. Currently,, he is one of the leading Bollywood singers who has won the National Award four times, three awards for  Best Male Playback Singer and one for Best Music Director.  Mahadevan is the founder of  Shankar Mahadevan Academy, which provides online music lessons in Indian music for students all over the globe.  Shankar has sung songs for several movies and some of his popular songs include 'Urvashi Take It Easy' for the film 'Humse Hai Muqabla' (1995), 'Kay Sera Sera' for 'Pukar' (2000), and  'Manmatha Rasa'  for Tamil film 'Thiruda Thirudi' (2003).

Diljit Dosanjh:

Diljit Dosanjh is Punjabi Singer and a film actor who was born on 6 January 1984 in  Jalandhar. Diljit made Bollywood debut in 2016 by starring in the film  'Udta Punjab' for which he won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He has also acted in super hit Punjabi movies like 'Jatt & Juliet' (2012), 'Punjab1984' (2013),  and 'Sardaar Ji 2' (2016). Before making his film debut, Diljit released albums which are 'Ishq Da Uda Ada', 'Dil', 'Smile', 'Ishq Ho Gaya ' 'Chocolate', and  'The Next Level'. In 2011, he made his Punjabi film debut by playing the leading role in 'The Lion of Punjab'.  Dosanjh acted and also sang a song 'Ik Kudi' for the film  'Udta Punjab'(2016) that got a lot of appreciation.

Monali Thakur:
Monali Thakur is a playback singer and an actress who was born on 3 November 1985 in Kolkata. She learned  Hindustani classical music from Pandit  Ajoy Chakraborty and Pandit Jagdish Prasad. Monali made her singing debut in Bollywood by singing the songs 'Khwab Dekhe (Sexy Lady), ' and 'Zara Zara Touch Me'  for the film  'Race' (2008). 'Zara Zara Touch Me' became enormously popular and was the fourth most played song on Indian radio during the first half of the year 2008. Thakur has won a National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the song 'Moh Moh Ke Dhaage' that she had sung for the film 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' (2015).  She also got a Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the song 'Sawaar Loon' from the movie 'Lootera' (2013). There is no doubt that Monali is the right person to be chosen as one of the Judges of the singing show 'Rising star'.
'Rising star'  is starting from 4 February 2017 on Colors TV.
